Why visit the branch, when the branch is ready to come to you! is an SMS that HDFC Bank has been sending its senior citizen customers. You can now request for cash pickup , Cash drop (Min &max. amount being 5K-25K or cheque pick up service from your home.” is an SMS HDFC Bank sent to its customers this week.

Many banks offer doorstep banking services to their customers especially to the senior citizen customers and disabled customers.

One should check with their bank if their home branch is providing doorstep banking services. You can check this on the bank website or by calling up the customer care number. Further, do check with your bank if the doorstep banking services have been impacted due covid-19 restrictions. For instance, ICICI Bank on its website states that its doorstep banking services are temporarily not available due to Covid-19.

Kotak Mahindra Bank

on its website states, “Service will be impacted in areas with strict restrictions on people movement due to COVID-19 lockdown on a Pan-India basis.”

Here is a look at the various services that banks provide via doorstep banking and what the charges are.
HDFC Bank
According to the HDFC Bank website, senior citizens can avail doorstep service by dialing HDFC Phone Banking service from their registered phone number. The maximum cash delivery limit per withdrawal will be Rs. 25,000, and the minimum amount will be Rs. 5000 for HDFC Bank customers. For cash pick-up and delivery, HDFC bank charges Rs. 200 plus taxes. It costs Rs. 100 + taxes per visit to pick any instrument.

Any request received by 3 p.m. on Day 0 will be fulfilled on the first working day. Requests received after 3 p.m. will be handled on a best-effort basis on Day 1 or on Day 2, according to HDFC Bank website.

State Bank of India (SBI)
SBI customers can request for doorstep banking service at the Home Branch. For Non-financial transactions SBI charges Rs 60+GST each visit, whereas financial transactions cost Rs 100+GST. The amount of cash withdrawal and deposit each transaction is limited to Rs 20,000 per day. The delivery would be done as quickly as possible, but no later than T+1 working day (holidays excluded).

Punjab National Bank (PNB)
Senior citizens over the age of 70, as well as others who are differently abled or infirm, will be able to use the PNB Doorstep Banking Services facility.

Currently, the Bank provides DSB services (DSBS) to senior citizens\differently abled people within a 5-kilometer radius of a bank through its branches. PNB will charge Rs 100 non-financial + GST* and fo financial transactions it is Rs 100 + GST.

Kotak Mahindra Bank
For Kotak Bank customers, here is the eligibility criteria
Senior citizen : Age > 60
Differently abled person#: As per the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights & Full Participation) Act, 1995
This facility is only available for eligible active SA customers and the service will be provided at the registered residence address of the customers.
